Shopify Design & Build

A beautiful store that doesn't convert is an expensive brochure. We design and build Shopify storefronts around how people actually buy — then hand you something your team can run without ringing us every week.

Storefronts designed around the buying decision.

Design and build together, as one project. We don't hand over designs for someone else to build.

Sound familiar?

It looks lovely. It isn't selling.

Design goes wrong in two directions: too safe and it's forgettable, too clever and nobody can find the add-to-cart. The interesting work is in the middle, and most of it is on the product page.

Your site doesn't look like your brand.

The packaging, the photography, the Instagram — all sharp. The website is a theme with your logo dropped on it, and you know it.

People bounce off the product page.

They arrive, they scroll, they leave. Nothing on that page answers the question they actually turned up with.

You keep bolting things on.

A banner here, a badge there, a popup someone added in 2023. It's accumulated rather than been designed, and it shows.

How it goes

Draw it, prove it, build it.

You'll see real screens early and often. No forty-page strategy deck before anything happens.

  1. 01Week 1

    Work out what it's for

A short, honest conversation about who buys from you and what stops everyone else. We read your analytics and your support inbox, which is where the truth usually lives.

    A page-by-page plan you've agreed.

  2. 02Weeks 2–4

    Design the pages that matter

Homepage, collection, product, cart. Those four do nearly all the work, so they come before anyone designs an About page. You see them in a browser, on a phone — not as a flat picture.

Real designs you can click through.

  3. 03Weeks 4–8

    Build it

Everything becomes reusable sections so your team can make new pages later without us. Speed and accessibility are part of the build rather than a tidy-up at the end.

A preview store that's always up to date.

  4. 04Launch + 30 days

    Launch, then keep looking

We watch how it performs after launch and fix what the data points at. A launch isn't a finish line, it's the first day you get real feedback.

A post-launch review with actual numbers in it.

What's in scope

Four pages do most of the selling.

So we spend the time where the money is.

  • Homepage
  • Collection & filtering
  • Product pages
  • Cart & checkout
  • Landing pages
  • Navigation & search
  • Mobile-first layouts
  • Design systems
  • Accessibility
  • Photography direction
  • Copy support
  • Brand-to-web translation

FAQ

The questions we always get asked

Can you work with our existing brand guidelines?

Yes, and we'd prefer to. If you've invested in a brand we'll translate it to the web rather than quietly redesigning it on the way through.

Do you do the design and the build?

Both, as one project. Design thrown over a wall to a separate developer is where most of the compromises creep in.

What if we already have a designer?

Then we'll build it and be a good partner about it. Some of our favourite projects have been someone else's design.

How much input do we get?

As much as you'd like. Most people come to two or three review sessions and send notes in between. You won't be handed a finished site you've never seen.

Will it be faster than what we have now?

Almost always — and we'll agree a target up front so it's measurable rather than a vibe.
